I bought this beer a long time ago, so I can remember where I actually got it. I think maybe it was at my local supermarket. Well, it has been bugging me that I keep passing by this beer, so I think it is about time that I actually review this beer. This week I will review 青い空と海のビール - Wizen by Hellos Brewery.

When I first look at this beer, and when I pour it out, there were many bubbles, but as it settled down, the bubble mostly disappeared. They are still there, but it is not as carbonated as I first thought. Looking at the colour, it has this dark yellow/orange colour. It reminds me almost of a light apricot colour. It is also mostly clear, but there is a slight haziness but only just.

When I take my first smell, I can smell a lot of acidity, so it will be interesting to see if that carries over to the actual taste. When I take a couple of sips, that acidity is there but only for a split second before a fruit-like flavour drowns it out. I can’t place the fruit, but it feels like a stone fruit. The sweetness of this beer can be felt around the cheeks. Honestly, this is quite a smooth beer to drink, and it does not leave a bad after taste in my mouth.

This is an interesting Okinawan beer. I found it quite pleasant to drink, and I would not mind having another in the future, but I don’t think I would go out of my way to get the beer. If I see it on the shop floor, I might pick it up again, though I have not seen it anywhere for ages, so it might just be a seasonal thing, who knows? Let me know what you think. Would you try this beer, and if you have, did you agree with what I said?

Remember to drink responsibly.
