Hoegaarden Rosèe

Hoegaarden Rosèe

I saw this bottle in the beer section of an upscale supermarket and thought at first this it was wrongly put in the beer section. But realised when I saw the brand name that is was indeed a beer. With a name like Rosèe I wonder if it will taste like the wine variety of the same kind (hence the fance glass used). This week I will be reviewing Hoegaarden’s Rosèe

When I look at this beer it is a very pinkish red beer. Reminds my of the cherry beers I have had in the past. Infact the colour is so vivid that it is hard to see the through the drink, even when I hold it up to the light. When it comes to the carbonation. You get a lot of bubbles when you first pour, but when it settles down I would say it comes to a normal carbonation point.

When I take a few sniffs of the beer I am getting some very sweet and some what fruity smell. A bit like a jam. If I was to pinpoint a certain fruit in the fragrance of raspberry would be the prominent smell. When I take my first sip I am immediately met with a sweet jam like taste. It is not overly sweet but is still quite sweet. I think it skids the line pretty close to being too sweet. There is also a slight tartness that hit more of the back of the pallet and then a strong tarty aftertaste really hits the back of the throat. This beer really is one that focuses the flavours on the tongue. I did not really feel anything in the rest of the mouth like the cheeks etc.

Over all. I think this is a fine beer, if you are into the more sweet beers. If you’re not a fan of sweet beers then I would stay away. For me I like this beer. While its not a beer I would have all the time. It would be a beer that I would come back to every now and then. But what do you think. Would you give this beer a try? Have you tried it before? Let me know in the comment section.
