Seven Izz Up

I remember seeing this drink at an American craft beer shop that I went to with a friend. I did not try it that day because I knew this was a beer I wanted to review as it was obviously parodying “7 UP”. I wonder if it will have any resemblance to the brand it is mimicking. This week I am reviewing: Seven Izz Up by Civil Society brewing company and Equilibrium Brewery
When I have a look at this drink is a pale orange colour, A little bit dull looking even when I hold it up to the light. It is very hazy which you would expect from a double IPA, I could not even dee my hand from the other side of the beer. There was not much carbonation with this beer which I am a little sad about (because of the name), I tried to give the beer some head but it just did not happen. after the beer was poured there was no carbonation whatsoever! I thought it was flat before I tried the beer.
When I took a sniff, I was getting a malty and slightly hoppy smell. That is about it. I was expecting complex fragrance notes but no. It’s pretty simple. When I took my first sip, I got quite a sweet and hoppy taste. I know that sweet and hops don’t usually come in the same sentence with my experiences with beers, but this one does handle both. The hops do hit the back of the throat, where you do eventually get the bitterness. The dink also has a malty-type taste to it. It's hard to describe, but it’s malty, sweet (but not too sweet), and hoppy.
In conclusion, this is a fine beer to have. This seems more like a summertime beer than a winter beer. However, it tasted nothing like 7 UP. I would still have this beer again. If you see this at a bar or on the shelf, I would say give it a shot. But what do you think? Have you had it before? Do you agree with my review? Let me know what you think in the comment section below.
