Love Hazy IPA

Love Hazy IPA

I found this beer can at the same 7/11 close to Hammerhead in Yokohama. With it’s flashy design it caught my attention. Plus I am a fan of hazy IPA’s, so it was a no brainer to pick up this beer. This week I will review the Almanac Beer Company’s “Love Hazy IPA”.

First off the look of this beer in the glass is definitely a Hazy IPA, because it looks well… Hazy. While it is not as non transparent as lets say a stout, it is semi-transparent. That is the reason it gets the “hazy” moniker. I don’t see much carbonation in the beer (and you can’t really taste it too). The colour of this beer is a little dull, but I think that is just due the the haziness of the beer. It’s like a darker yellow colour then I usually see in an ale which generally has a more golden colour.

The taste of this beer is interesting. When I take a sip, I get a mixture of flavour across my tongue. The sweetness hits the tip of my tongue, while the bitterness hits the back of my tongue and the sour notes hit the side of my tongue. Which I find, very interesting. I generally find hazy IPA’s are sweeter than their normal counterparts, but this one is not the sweetest hazy IPA I have tried. I think that the sour notes are more apparent than the sweeter notes. while there is a bitter flavour it’s not that strong.

Personally I think this is a good beer. Not my Favourite hazy IPA but a good contender. If you like your beers a little on the sour side then give this a try and tell me what you think. This Hazy IPA was made to support the Oakland LGBTQ Community Centre and support the LGBTQ+ community. which is something I can get behind.
