When I was in my local supermarket seeing if there were any beers that I had not tried before, I walked past “this” beer. With its frankly awesome design it caught my eye instantly. Well how could I go home without giving this a try. This week I am going to try Oh! La! Ho Beer’s Raiden.

I know I tried an “Oh! La! Ho Beer” last week but my excuse is that I didn’t know when selecting a beer to review this week but i digress. First of all lets talk about the look. When I first poured the beer it was coming across as very yellow but as it settled in the glass it maintained a deep golden colour that is very transparent. It is also highly carbonated. Not as much as Asahi, but for people who prefer their beers to have more carbonation then this one is for you.

In regards to the taste. It is bitter, but I think that is more a product of it being an IPA. Plus the bitterness does not envelop your tongue like last weeks beer (Beerhead’s Amber Ale). There is a little wateriness but just enough that it does not take away from the beer, I actually surprisingly think it helps the beer’s taste. It cuts down the bitterness of the hops and brings out some of the sweeter tones of the beer. It is actually a smooth beer to drink.

Confession time. This is the second time I have bought this beer. The first time was just to enjoy a beer and this time was to review. I think this beer is actually a really nice beer to have and I personally would rate it highly. This beer was also dedicated to “Raiden Tameemon” (which I think is an awesome name) who they say was the greatest sumo wrestler in history. Wether it was dedicated to someone or not, I think this is a beer worthy of checking out. I enjoyed drinking this beer, and if you are like me I think you will enjoy it too. If you do manage to try it, let me know what you think.
