(note- This was supposed to come out before Halloween)

It’s coming up to trick-or-treat time, and I have been tricked. This is a tomato-based beer using 20% of Kagome tomatoes. I also decided to use my cat leg glass to add a spooky action to the review. I am not happy to try this, but this week I am trying Asahi’s Red Eye.

When I look at this beer, it has a dark reddish look to it. Not as red as I was expecting. Actually, as I look, it has a light pinkish tint to it which does surprise me a little. This is quite a carbonated beer. There are quite a few bubbles coming up, but it is not surprising because it is an Asahi beer. Which we all know how heavily carbonated Asahi beers can be.

I took a smell, and I don’t know what I was expecting, but it was a really strong smell of tomatoes. As I take a sip, I do get the taste of tomatoes but it’s not AS bad as I remember but it’s still not great. It’s like an acidic tomato taste with a slight aftertaste of beer. There is no bitter aftertaste. it’s just a generic beer aftertaste. I am just not that impressed with the beer.

I am not a fan of this beer, and hopefully, it is the last time I taste it. In saying that, my friend likes the taste. So this will be good for some people but not a beer at all for me. I like tomatoes but mixed with beer it’s not a beer I would pick up again. But have a good Halloween. and let me know what you think in the comments down below.
